Moving a group of people around Singapore — whether for a corporate event, a family airport transfer, a wedding, a school trip, or a tour — involves a straightforward but often misunderstood decision. The right vehicle depends on group size, luggage, budget, and whether you need a premium presentation or simply practical point-to-point movement.
This guide covers the main group transport options available in Singapore, what each is suited for, what it costs, and what to confirm before you book.

The Four Main Group Transport Options
1. Premium MPV — 5 to 7 Passengers
Vehicles: Toyota Alphard, Toyota Vellfire, Mercedes V-Class, Mercedes Viano Capacity: 5 to 7 passengers with luggage Best for: Small groups wanting a premium experience, VIP transfers, corporate clients, families with significant luggage
The Toyota Alphard is Singapore's default premium group vehicle — it has been the backbone of the city's chauffeur and private hire market for over a decade. Retractable ottoman seats, rear air conditioning, generous luggage space, and a commanding presence on the road make it the first choice for anyone who needs comfort and a degree of prestige alongside practicality.
The Mercedes V-Class serves a similar market but with a slightly more European executive feel. Both vehicles seat 6 comfortably with luggage, or up to 7 passengers for lighter trips without full bags.
Important luggage note: A 7-seater MPV with all seats occupied has minimal luggage space. If your group of 7 has full-size luggage — airport transfers being the most common scenario — either use 6 seats plus luggage or book two vehicles. Confirm luggage requirements when booking.
Typical pricing:
Airport transfer: SGD 80 to 120 per trip
Hourly charter: SGD 60 to 130 per hour (minimum 3 hours)
2. 13-Seater Minibus — 9 to 13 Passengers
Vehicle: Toyota Hiace High Roof Capacity: Up to 13 passengers without luggage, or up to 9 passengers with full travel luggage Best for: Medium groups, airport transfers for larger families, corporate shuttle runs, day trips
The Toyota Hiace High Roof is Singapore's standard 13-seater minibus — practical, spacious, widely available, and significantly more cost-effective per head than multiple individual vehicles once your group exceeds 8 people. The high roof means comfortable headroom even for taller passengers, and the large sliding door allows quick boarding and alighting which matters for frequent-stop itineraries.
The key limitation is luggage capacity. At full 13-passenger load, there is no meaningful luggage space — this vehicle works best for groups travelling light or for shuttle runs where luggage is not involved. For airport transfers with 9 or more passengers carrying checked bags, a 13-seater plus a separate luggage transfer vehicle is worth considering.
A 13-seater minibus airport transfer is typically priced at around SGD 65 per trip — working out to approximately SGD 5 per person for a group of 13, making it one of the most cost-effective group transport options in Singapore.
Typical pricing:
Point-to-point transfer: SGD 70 to 100 depending on distance
Hourly charter: SGD 80 to 120 per hour including driver, fuel, ERP, and parking
3. 23-Seater Coach — 15 to 23 Passengers
Vehicle: Various — typically a medium coach or larger minibus Capacity: 15 to 23 passengers Best for: Medium-to-large corporate groups, school excursions, wedding guest shuttles, tour groups
The 23-seater sits between the minibus and full coach — versatile enough for most mid-sized group movements while remaining manoeuvrable in Singapore's urban environment. Air-conditioned, driver included, and typically priced for the full charter period rather than per trip.
Typical pricing:
Half-day charter (4 hours): SGD 250 to 400
Full-day charter (8 to 10 hours): SGD 400 to 650
4. 40 to 49-Seater Coach — 30 to 49 Passengers
Vehicles: Full-size touring coaches Capacity: 40 to 49 passengers Best for: Large corporate events, conferences, school trips, MICE delegate movement, resort shuttles
For groups of 30 or more, a full-size coach is almost always the most practical and cost-effective solution. Modern coaches in Singapore are air-conditioned, equipped with seatbelts, and driven by licensed professionals. For multi-day events, coaches can be chartered for the duration with the same driver team — important for building familiarity with your event schedule and venues.
Important for event organisers: Full-size coaches cannot enter all vehicle access points in Singapore. Certain hotel drop-off bays, underground carparks, and narrow CBD roads restrict large vehicle access. Confirm vehicle clearance at your specific venue before booking a full-size coach.
Typical pricing:
Point-to-point transfer: SGD 150 to 250 depending on distance and time
Half-day charter: SGD 350 to 550
Full-day charter: SGD 600 to 1,000

What to Confirm Before Booking
Luggage capacity
State the exact number of checked bags, carry-on bags, and oversized items when requesting a quote. Operators need this to recommend the right vehicle — a group of 9 with golf bags has very different requirements from 9 passengers travelling light.
Pickup and drop-off points:
For large coaches especially, confirm vehicle access at both ends. Hotel loading bays, event venues, and certain areas of the CBD have size restrictions.
Driver licensing:
All commercial passenger vehicle drivers in Singapore must hold a valid vocational licence issued by LTA. For buses and coaches, the driver must hold the appropriate class of Public Service Vehicle licence. Reputable operators have this in order — ask if you are unsure.
Inclusions:
Most established operators quote all-inclusive — driver, fuel, ERP charges, and parking. Confirm this when comparing quotes. Hidden charges for ERP and CBD entry can add SGD 15 to 30 to a trip.
Advance booking:
For events requiring 3 or more vehicles, book at least 1 to 2 weeks ahead. During peak periods — school holidays, major Singapore events like F1 and Airshow — popular operators book out 4 to 6 weeks ahead.
Cross-border trips:
Some operators permit Malaysia travel for minibuses and coaches with the appropriate permits. Confirm explicitly if your trip involves crossing to JB or elsewhere in Malaysia, and verify VEP compliance for the vehicle.
